A plan to find the direction of change in standardized test and alternative evaluation

The shortcomings of the standardized test are well evident in the college entrance examination.

The college scholastic ability test is advantageous for students who have previously studied through private education.

As a result, there arises a problem in which a test to evaluate whether a student is well equipped with learning ability turns into a test to evaluate how well a student has received private education.

In addition, there are opinions that it is not appropriate to uniformly evaluate people who have different strengths because standardized tests mainly measure cognitive ability.

The current evaluation culture focuses on 'discrimination' and 'selection', but I think there is a need to change this and focus on 'growth' and 'development'.

In the United States, writing subjects are added to the curriculum and writing skills are evaluated.

This has great implications for us as well.

The same is the reason why the French 'baccalorea' has recently attracted attention in Korea.

However, Essay evaluation is also controversial over the subjectivity of the evaluator and the practicality of the test contents, so I think it is desirable that the future evaluation method take a complementary form by mixing the standardized test and the essay-type evaluation.
